American Angler Saltwater (Green) electric with Mister Twister blades. It's the best combination I have found. Some of the TFF guides directed me to it.

They have them at Academy.

Kevin

(Use the blades that come with the American Angler in your kitchen. They will probably work in a normal electric knife and are great for slicing bread. I hate using them to filet fish because they are pointed.)

If I had to clean a bunch of fish, i would use an electric knife but when it comes to quality fillets, I am going to use a regular filet knife, regardless of brand. Dexter russel makes great knifes for cleaning a large catch. When cleaning crappie or sandies, i like to use a small rapala knife or any knife that has some flex to the blade. I guess all of u guys that are using the electrics are in a hurry to get the job done and not worried about getting all of the meat.. Dont get me wrong, Electric is deff. the way to go when cleaning big reds but does everyone use an electric for every situation???????? laugh

I like the GE, and it comes with two sets of blades. I also have a Stanley set that has a cutting board, two fillet knives, a much stouter knife and a sharpening stick.

Boomer, the reason I like the long 9" Mr. Twister blades for Crappie is because I filet all of my fish rib cage and all. And, some of those big Fork plate sized slabs are dang near as wide as they are long. So, it takes a lot of blade to span them back bone to belly. laugh

BTW: For those of you who like a fixed blade knife....I have a buddy, give him two of those longest blade Rapala knives and a ceramic sharpening stick, and I will pit him against any two guys using electric knives for getting it done. The guy says he can't stand to use electric knives because they are just too slow.

I personally like electric because I'm lazy and just don't like to do all that blade honing. laugh laugh

90% of what I clean is crappie/sandies/hybrids/catfish. The American Angler from Academy for $19.99 is great for all of this. It even comes with the 12V adapter, so you don't have to be around a plug to use it wink

A lot of ramps don't have cleaning stations with power outlets, so the 12V is a huge plus.

There are several cordless models as well. They only draw back is the charge lasts for 30 minutes which is not long enough if you have a large number of fish to clean.

I tell you what I carry....I have one of those portable battery packs and a small inverter, and an old ironing board the wife keeps trying to throw away. laugh

Don't need much more to dress them fish any place, any time.

Striperswiper,
Those GE's are not "bullet proof". My 28yr old unit died last summer. Had to buy another - just like it.

I have a GE that is at least that old and has fileted at least a million fish. I keep wondering when it will die. They don't build um like that any more.....
