the easy way to tell from the pics above is that the humminbird has the HUGE white boxes with black letters such as temp, speed etc etc. The lowrance screenshots dont have that and usually the humminbird guys will post pics with the blue screens and the lowrance guys will post with brown screens or like mine at the beginning a kind of orangish color.

I had a Humminbird 798 before the HDS 7 and hated it. But I have been on Ernest boat when he had the 997 and it worked great. So, honestly it comes down to personal preference in my opinion. Both will give you the same quality as you see above.

What about the 798 didn't you like and are you glad you made the trade? Which one is the most user friendly. I have a lowrance X-19 on the dash and a humminbird 190 on the bow. The lowrance can be difficult to set-up and the humminbird just basically turn on and fish.

The 798 puts out half the power of the 997 and 1197 and only uses 455khz. Never saw anything that looked as good as the HDS 7 shots posted above. But like I said before the 997 Ernest had worked fine.

The humminbird is prolly more user friendly IMO. But I love my HDS 7 and structure scan.

Lots of lookers, but no posters.

Here are a few more.

The Lowrance are on top and the last 4 sections of pictures are Humminbird. I have a 997 and a 798. I love them both. I like the way the Lowrance looks too but I just can't trust them after owning them before. If they break you might as well make trotline weights out of them and go buy new ones. Humminbird is top shelf in Customer Service. I can't afford to buy more.

The shots you are posting. Are you saving them to an SD. I have not saved anything off of my HDS 10 yet, but I remember reading something about it.

Took these yesterday at RR since the wind was blowing so hard you couldn't fish. These are from my HB898 just getting it tweeked in and still needs some work.
Look at the times on the display I took a SI then a DI image.
