how long do I keep it covered in water? first week/two or always? Keep it in there until you use it.. when I use mine, I keep some water in there but dump most out... you want to be able to throw some water out to the fish though as it will create a slick on the top of the water... Then when you get home if you havent used it all, fill it back up with milo and water.

What am I doing wrong? I put out three 5 gallon buckets of Chum about 3 weeks ago, still no foam,or mold.I stinks, but not enough to gag a maggot. They are all out doors in the sun. They still have about an inch of water over the milo, which I've not had to add any water since pouring it in.I have the lids on tight, but the little pull up top is not push all the way in.Any suggestions would be appreciated....Thanks..

It is probably ready. It doesn't smell as bad as most folks want to make it out to be. I think most punch biats actually smell worse.

SGT. Ballard. Like stated already it's ready to rock. The main thing is you want the grain to sink. That's why the water level changes in your drum or bucket when you first add water. Now I start my grain in Jan. so when I start using it now it calls out the Buzzards. Just remember the longer it sits the stankier it'll be.

One, to create a slick , second ,fish smell, third old rotten grease stinks it's made me throw chunks. I prefer whole wheat I used old peanut oil from Thanksgiving when I fried up a few turkeys. My Grain is sick. When it reaches half a barrel I will add more wheat and water, but the process shouldn't take as long due to the fact that there is still some old grain that will help in speeding up the process.
