What do you guys do with your treble hooks after using punch bait on them?
I have to load all my gear into my sedan after I'm done fishing so I've been cutting the hook and throwing it away so the little bit of residue left on the hook doesn't stink up my car. Is there a better solution?

I leave the poles in the boat till I get home, then my wife makes me put them in the shop. First time I put them in the house and she came unglued when she found where the smell was comming from. So sad.

brings up a good point....... i need to get a hold of tom (mr whiskers) and find out where he gets those "hook covers" he uses. they are the coolest, snap onto the rod, holds the hook completely sealed so no smell!

I hang mine from my rearview mirror as a air freshener. It covers the smell of my net covered in buffalo slime and my landing mat with carp juice on it.... Oh and I leave my gear in my SUV at all times.. never know when there is gonna be a fishing emergency.

Instead of cutting them off why not just clean them off?

I just use my knife or pair of scissors. Turn the hook upside down and cut scrape the bottom of the hook on all three hooks. Flip over and pull all the fiber off. Easy.

I also use Sure Shot and if you slap the hook with force most of it will come off. You may have to pinch a very small amount of Cattail to clean the hook but the force from poppin the hook will knock the smell away. Most of the time it knock's it right off. I just can't afford to replace the hook's.
