I'm lookin for a place that would be slightly up-scale in the Port A area. My wife and I are planning a 3 or 4 day get away the first week of JUne. I like to fish and she likes to sit on the beach and soak up rays. Is there a place thats beach accessable, and still has the bay fishing near by? Just lookin to wade fish a little or maybe bring my yak.

Just about every condo south of town and several in town fit your criteria. Beach frontage to the east and bays about 1/4 mile to the west. I'd suggest looking at the Chamber of Commerce website and pick whatever suits your fancy.

If looking for something nice, the mayan princess is on the south end of the island, very nice, and like posted above, she can walk the boardwalk to te beach, and you would only be minutes from a few nice spots just across the street.

Seagull Condos on Mustang Island. Very nice, right on the beach and Wilson cut to Shamrock Cove directly accross the road.

Check out Port Royal. It's about as upscale as it gets in Port A.

Beachgate is a great place to stay; close to the beach, heated pools, and friendly "new" management. It's in the upper middle range as compared to other condos.

Disclosure: I'm a Beachgate condo owner. That's where I stay.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

wife and i stayed at the Sandcastle condos last summer and are going back in 3 weeks... nice rooms and cheapest rates that ive found looking at comparable condos.

has a fish hut for cleaning and a boardwalk to access the beach

The Mayan Princess is nice. I stayed there a few years back. Nice pool, racketball court, boardwalk, etc. Port Royal has a VERY nice pool and some of the rooms are updated well but I made the mistake of letting the wife book the room. $500.00 A NIGHT!!!!!!! Yeah thats what I said. We stayed three nights and I jst fished the whole time, from 3 AM to 3 PM. Took my yak and had a great time. Flounder gigged some, fished more. Caught plenty every day and even had a little fish fry one day. We fished Stingray Hole are and Pelican Island. But Port Royal has no cleaning table. Not sure about the Mayan Princess. Good luck.

If you are looking for upscale, I would recommend contacting Kendall at Port A Beach House Company. 888-749-5777 or kendall@visitporta.net. They rent vacation homes in the Royal Sands subdivision. 2 pools and a boardwalk to the beach and the homes are very upscale.
Located outside the commercial part of Port A about 5 minutes south.

I make it through the day by dreaming of my next trip to Port A.

I was there this weekend with my wife, but the surf was way too rough for me to fish.
