I was wondering if hard head catfish really tasted as bad as people say they do. Have you ever tried one?

You know what, if they were the least bit edible, you'd know *someone* who would take all you caught.
I sure don't know that person, and I promise I won't be the first in line at the buffet.

My dad always said they were no good to eat. I never tried one and I never will.

They look like, are slimy like freshwater Bullhead Catfish right down to the spines. Have eaten a fair share of freshwater bullheads - I'll try a hardhead. What is the worst that can happen??

I have heard that the regular hard heads are no good to eat, but the bigger gafftop sail (sail cats) are very good to eat.

Gafftop is a different deal. I did eat a load of them when we were kids. And by all means knowing my cajun heritage, if there was *anything* edible on a hard head we'd have kept them.

I've had both, Gafftops and Hardheads. They werent too bad but the only thing I hated about them was that had different bone structure. Once filleted, there was little to no meat.
Not worth it if you want nice fillets for eating but if you want fish balls, go for it!

Gafftop aint bad if you cut out the bloodline or dark meat. Roll it in some spicy mustard and fish fry mix, to me its better than freshwater catfish.
