Oh and we already have a fishing only lake. It is called Purtis Creek. It is a no wake lake and therefore no pleasure boats or jet skies.

All I know, it would be freakin' heaven to drive up to a ramp and see a sign that said, NO JET SKIS OR PLEASURE BOATS ALLOWED!!!
Don't we already have no wake lakes? Purtis Creek? Cleburne State Park?

As long as there are fishing boats and lakes, there will be lakes with hydrilla. You never really get rid of the hydrilla on a lake once it is established. One the other hand, lakes with no established hydrilla will eventually be "planted" with hydrilla from boats that have been on other lakes with hydrilla. It can be trapped between the trailer boards and the boat in one lake and deposited in another, unknowingly.

I saw a fishing show recently and the lake (I can't recall what lake or where) had a lot of hydrilla.

They got rid of it all and replaced it with coontail.

Does that sound like a plan?

Yeah, kinda like Purtis, but more of them and bigger and they should allow using outboard motors and have normal size limit restrictions, not catch and release. But Purtis is kind of a good example, I mean, no one is gonna lobby to poison grass there or add grass carp, so that's the general idea. Maybe better yet, they can create some giant pleasure boating only lakes with ski jumps, obstacle courses, floating bars and fill them up with millions of grass carp!!!

Actually they do poison the grass at Purtis. Usually around the swim beach and piers but it tends to drift to other areas of the lake.

Keep it wet.

You are allowed to use outboard motors at Purtis, but at no wake speed only. I kinda like this, I know it's a pain for you speed racers out there to slow down, but I'm in a 10' plastic boat, and I've had bass boats try to throw me out of the boat with their wakes, just like the pleasure boats. A lot of boaters don't even realize that they are responsible for any damage caused by their wakes. It's probably almost impossible to enforce, but I'd hate to pay for gear lost from a capsized canoe.

Luxury Home and Commercial Developers that dominate Pool have a lot of influence with TPWD. They will make sure that the value of their developments increases by keeping the lake "clean" Roberts does not have these developments.

wouldn't it be easier to designate certain areas, coves or arms of the lake as no skying or jetboat areas?

Jrob, you are right it was back in Bama at Guntersville. Over 700 boats shoed up to protest against killing all the milfoil and yes it did work. Myself and another guy are putting together a similiar demonstration, detail to come. Anybosy interested in joing the party? Contact me I am starting a list to keep people updated as the plan comes together!
