The shafts can sometimes be straightened.
Just some food for thought

Get a MK. I would never get a used TM,but if you are deep water fishing and tying up,I guess you could make it work.

Try Foster, he's a hoot to work with and talk to over the phone. Great service and prices too. http://www.trollnmotors.com

Call some repair places. Call places that sell boats. People sometimes upgrade trolling motors when they buy new boats and the shops sell them. Or just hang out on the Trading post and wait for a real good deal to pop up. That' what I did and got a good fairly new used MG Maxxum 70 for $400.00

www.SouthwesternParts.com in Dallas have a MG and Minnkota warranty shop with trade-ins and refurbished T/M's. Their used T/M's will come with a dealer's warranty. You can buy a new shaft from them to replace the bent one. I have done it myself. it just threads into the top of the powerhead, but you will need a good #30 cobalt drill bit and some 1/8" stainless pop rivets/pop rivet gun to remove and replace the steering cable head.
