Will have to try the line through the gill plate deal. Seems like it will cut down on the fumbling.

Another bit of advice for everybody. If you are fishing for fun like me break the barb off of your hooks. You may lose a few fish but you will save a few as well.
I see on tv these guys ripping hooks out and throw a bleeding fish in the water. There is no need for that. I would be a lot more impressed if they caught the fish with a barbless hook.

Caught a fish last week that was gut hooked and had line hanging out the mouth. Looks like he might have broke the line while fighting. But the fish ate my bait so clearly the wish was still feeding. I cut it down as far as I could and released the fish.
