just wondering if the new brakes they put on the 2010 revos have done a better job than the 2009 model brakes

Have a new SX coming in. I'll be giving it a good work out the next few weeks.

absolutely they do on the dual brake models.

you can use either system independently if you like (I've tested this on my premier), so if you're a magnet guy or a brake guy, you should be very happy.

I'm currently fishing my premier with 1 brake on and about 30% on the magnets.

Is there that much of a differance between the 09's and the 10's?

The SX has the new handle and the Infini spool II. It also has increased braking strength. The STX added the centrifugal brakes and kept the linear mag brakes and got a new handle. The Premier got the centrifugal brakes as well, a new handle, and a bearing upgrade from 6 to 10. They also increased the drag to 20#. The SX and STX kept the same price as the '09 but the Premier went up to $279.99

also the new premier has foam handles which are really nice.

I'd say the upgrades are worth $20 on the old vs. new premier. It would cost you a LOT more to do them yourself on an older premier.

The bearing increase is all in the handle fwiw.

The '10 premier has much better drag than the '09. I'm not too fond of the handle knobs on the '09 Revos.

Awesome reels. The new 2010 Premiers are the real deal. They have a wide range of adjustment for braking and superior drag system. Very comfortable and light for fishing all day long.

For those who have been using the 2010 Premier model for a while, can you please provide any input as to how they are performing? About to pull the trigger on one and was hoping to get more feedback. I have no choice but to order online and that's a hassle as far as try8ing something an having to return it later. I'm torn between the new Premier or new STX.

Can you cast Senko style unweighted worms with an STX. I've been able to make 100 ft casts with a Curado 200E7.

Senkos are pretty heavy, even weightless. I don't have a problem throwing them on any of my Revos, old Premier, new Premier and new STX. The 2010 models work great and seem to cast lighter stuff better than the older models. I have other reels I use for lighter stuff, so I don't test them much, but when I do they work better, especially the 10 Premier vs the old Premier.

The Abu Garcia Revo SX matched with a Abu Garcia Vendetta is hard to beat. I have 2 SX's, the old and the 2010....and yes the brakes were nicely upgraded.

REVO'S 4 LIFE!!

Thanks,

The Senkos are as light as I go conventional. Since you have both New Premier and STX. When do you consider the Premier a benefit over the STX at the same gear ratio?
