+1 on the Ready-Seal. The only stain I will use on my clients fence.

Depending on what color you want will depend on whether you need to power wash the fence.

If you wait until it gets in the 90's, the stain will penetrate the wood better and last longer. I have one fence that we stained with Ready-Seal Natural Cedar when it was 100+ and it still looks great after 4 years.
