Tony,
Hidden Lake @ Bandera/1604 is good, the westlakes ponds by 410 and 151 are decent, there are 3 in that area. Tom slick off, Military and 151 is ok but there are lots of people, there is also a pond by 410 and 90 by the apartments... those are the ones that I have fished and caught some decent bass, I would say the hidden lake pond is the best.

there is a huge pnd right behind Northeast Lakeview College. I've never fished it, but have seen many fishing while daydreaming through class. Saw some catfish get caught, and I think some bass but it was hard to tell from a distance.

that is the live oak city park, haven't been there but they say that you can fish it and that it is not bad at all.

from when i've been there, there's only a couple of spots to fish from in the park area, and they aren't that great. unless you cheat and go over the big metal cable that should tell you to stay out that everybody just steps over :|

Saw some catfish get caught, and I think some bass but it was hard to tell from a distance. Live Oak lake... it's horrible. I've fished there dozens of times and to this day I've only pulled out ONE 3lber. Maybe it's just my luck but I've fished everywhere from the dock to the spillway, all the way back into the woods and the frisbee golf course, to the back where it bends out into a peninsula. Just never had luck out there. I know of quite a few ponds here in San Antonio myself, shoot me a pm if you're interested.
You know the old saying
If it floats, flys, or f___s it is always cheaper to rent!
You have to decide which is more important.

Thanks for the tips on this. I am an avid bass bank angler living in Chesapeake, VA and will be moving to San Antonio in about 2 weeks. We have some many community ponds and lakes here that if you trip you would probably into one.
