I've caught a few of those fish that you have on the bottom pic, think they are war mouths. But that first one I have no clue, she's pretty though.

Catch and Release fishing is a lot like golf. You don't have to eat the ball to have a good time.

The second one looks like a Warmouth to me. The first one, that is one interesting fish. Hybrid BG take on a lot of different colors and markings but I haven't seen one like that.

This may sound crazy but it looks like it may have black crappie in it along with some kind of sunfish...very interesting markings.

Does the water body have crappie in it?

I didnt know 2 different genus of fish could spawn...?

that bluegill is one wierd fish! looks exactly like a crappie/ bluegill but that DARK underbelly is throwing me off. might send that pic to a fisheries biologist.

The first one is the real puzzler... The second one is almost certainly a warmouth. The first one I think is a redear sunfish. The books say the opercular flap ("ear")on a redear can just have a light colored margin (neither specifically red or orange). I have never seen one myself, but there you go. I'm a fisheries biologist and must admit that because many sunfish can cross naturally that we usually assume a hard to identify individual is a hybrid. That is most often an easy out. In the wild hybridization is much more uncommon than misidentification... Anyway hope that helps. The main reason I don't suspect hybridization is the utter lack of a black spot on the rear portion of the fish's dorsal fin.

Know your fish

Never seen a redear? hmmm

I've seen thousands but never one like that. Guess there's always a first time.

The first one is a male white crappie. The males are dark like that sometimes. You can tell it's a white crappie by the vertical lines. Black crappies have specs and no lines.

Trust me, the top fish is a red ear/ bluegill cross. In east Texas they call them Chinquapins. A real good fish to have in Ponds. You can't buy them as far as I know but they cross breed naturaly.

Bottom fish is a Warmouth, and a very large one.

I live in East Texas and the only thing I have called a Chinquapin is a type of Oak tree with tasty acorns.
