Will be getting my pontoon in a few more weeks, and need some input on the best rod holders to mount on the railing for trolling and drift fishing. Need something solid that won't let an expensive rod and reel come out or pull free from the railing. Thanks in advance for all replies.

They quit making the old style Bee Readys, but Ed said the guy in Oklahoma might still have some, Ed can give you his address or phone number

You can also mount them to the rails, they work great that way too!!!

Beereadys are good for sure my new boat has them all around, but they will mess up your cork handles on you top end rods, pm me if you're interested and I'll show you what I did to fix that . My loomis and Lamiglass rods don't ned that kind of abuse ! RM

I have seen where there is some people making their own like the old style Bee Readys, they get some 1/4" rod at Home Depot and either weld them to some square tubing or angle iron depending on what they are mounting them too!!!

have used the carabiner below with great success. mount it to the rail with a 3/16 or 1/4 inch stainless bolt, locknut and large washers. works great much less expensive and time consuming than some other options. space and aim however you like.

The beereadys are hard to beat...as far cork handles. I wrap the bottom portion of any rods with cork handles with a type of tape you can get at most large pet stores, it is a rubber feeling tape that stretches and adhears to itself . It's the stuff you see put over a cast on a broken bone. My wife works at a Vet. clinic so she brings me reminents. Works great... can be replaced very easily and does not mess up a cork handle.

How do the beereadys work? Excuse my ignorance on these, as the type I have seen and have been considering are the monster type. What degree is best for both trolling and catfishing for you guys? Just seems the upward angle of the 33/45's would be better than the flatter 0/33 version. I know that is angle adjustability, just want to get it right the first time before drilling holes.
