I'll take bets on how many gators I see in the next 3 days at Caddo grin

Side bets for total number and biggest grinnel too....

a grinnel is a bowfin...it is a pre-historic fish full of teeth and bones. they will hit a lot of the same baits a bass will hit. I got one back in 1989ish that went 16 pounds on a chrome blue trap. thought I hung mobey dick....back in the day, Butch Ray was fishing next to me and my uncle and see's me hang this creature.

scared the daylights out of me...

Mark are you turning into a city boy as you age? I mean you are only a year older and I would have lipped it...NOT!

If you hang one over 17-lbs you might have the State record.
Back in 94 I caught one on a jug line that was huge, scales big as silver dollars.. Didn't have a clue as to any records on Dog Fish at the time. Might of had it, but who knows..

The creek had lots of stumps if that helps.

I once caught a 20 lb bowfin on fork and have a picture.

And I know who "Jeff" is.

PB Grinnell 13 Pounds. Fun to catch but hard on hardware. They'll do a number on a balsa crankbait!
PB Gator 4.5 feet on a T-Rig weightless worm. Took two of us to get it in the boat and get the hook out. Too much fun. Kinda stupid too.
