Thanks for the info. I would like to do this some day. Is it better to run this during summer months or spring? Assuming summer would be safer due to lower water?

It sounds like you really have to press on each day just to get to camping spots. That is the only thing I do not like as I would like to fish it at my speed and maybe even take a break some times for food/drink.

the spot isnt a sat phone. It send text messages and can also send out a emergency signal. From what I have read most the places you rent one from include the service. If it didnt they wouldnt rent them out very often.

And there are only two large class 3+ rapids areas. One being Three tier falls and the other being Dolan falls. I have never been there but I have read just about every report and every article about it. I will be going one of these days.

I just might join you. So tempting.

I should have my new heritage redfish 12 in at the end of next week too. What a way to break the yak in.

Im serious but I have an issue. I only have 6 days vacation left for the year. I plan on doing a Florida Keys fishing/diving trip in August. Do you think we can fit this trip into 4 days including travel time?

Maybe drive down Thursday early in the morning and hit the river in the afternoon? Then paddle down and leave Saturday evening or sleep down there somewhere and leave sunday morning.

Im not sure this thing can be done in only 4 days.

indian creek and three tiers under normal flows, not much to it

unless you like 110 degree weather i would avoid this place in the summer. ya the water will be cool, but its not going to make up for the heat and all the paddling you'll be doing.

Clouser,

Three Tier looks entirely different when the river gets 3 inches of rain the previous night. Hopefully my next trip will be a dry one and I'll be able to run that rapid.

If you plan on going to florida in August trust me on this, get a refundable ticket. I did this same thing (Key West in August) and the day of my trip a hurricane ripped through there. August is a bad time to go as it is hurricane season.

I made up for it last year and went in Decemeber. Perfect! Did some deep sea fishing and caught about 12 dolphin fish out there. Good eating!

I lived in Florida for 14 years. I have only been in Dallas for 4 years. I know it well! I go to Key west every year.

I have about 5 free flights right now that I get from flying with southwest for work. I fly at least twice a month for my job.

Oh and I found a nice report for the devils here:
