try the owner screw lock hooks, they work well, and i've been using wave worms recently and in my opinion work well and way cheaper, of course you cant beat the senko but i found a bunch of wave worms at academy for .88 cents a bag

r bend hook is an option and the bps slim stik-O does well. waves fall veryyy slow.

When the head gets too torn up turn it around and fish it from the tail end. Works well and gives you more of that fall backwards action, plus you get double the life out of a bait.

Here is what Alton Jones does. It works Great!!
..Use Straight shank hooks. Snell the hook instead of tying normally. Then insert hook into nose of senko, go about 1/4 inch deep, bring the hook out ALL THE WAY, PAST THE EYE . Then pull your line to snug the eye of your hook parallel with the worm, Then he "skin hooks" the point lightly. Your hooksets will be better, and the worm cannot slide down the hookshaft, since the eyelet is already outside the senko. But you gotta snell a straight shanked hook for this to work.

I always use StrikeKing Zeros weightless and have never had that prob

Make sure your worm is covering up your eye of the hook, then take a toothpick and run it thru the worm and eye and break it of flush. Seen a pro do it once and it works great.

guys, here's good senko type stick worm that holds up real well compared to Senko or Yum products.

Most people just bite a half inch off the torn up senko and rig it again. stick the hook in the other end, wackky worm it, fishem till there aint nothin left for them

when i'm fishin a stick worm in heavy veggies I like to stick a little crank bait clip or small swivel on the line (after the slip sinker) then tie on the hook. start the hook thru the head a the worm then put the clip or swivel over the hook point before you stick the hook point into the middle of the bait. This works well for frogs too. Them dang froggies don't like to stay rigged right either.

somebody is making little clips especially for this too, can't remember the companies name tho

Saw Shaw Grigsby on TV take a tiny little rubber band (like dentists use for braces) and doubled it onto one of the O-Whacky Tools (at Bass Pro or Tackle Warehouse), then slide it over the head of the senko after inserting the hook. The rubber band grabs the senko right behind the eye of the hook, and it's supposed to keep the lure from sliding down past the Zbend and from tearing up.

duct tape it up. or just change to a wacky rig

I like the toothpick idea but superglue works well also, especially if you follow up with some craw scent or something to mask the scent of the glue. It helps the knot stay put as well.

Then again, you could rig it like I sometimes do in the Spring...



With the weight in the tube and the hook back through the Senko... big bait, falls nice and doesn't need maintenance.
