I was thinking the same thing.

I dont use synthetic but i never thought of it that way. Its really not acting as a lubricant long enough to be used in a two stroke is it?

I've seen blown motors in the shop that have only run Mercury premium plus oil, so what is your point?

I'm sure you have. I am not saying that any motor can't blow up using any brand of oil. All I stated was that "I know several guys that have blown power heads using Pennzoil" and all virtually simutaneously from the time they started using it. Coincidence? Who knows...And I hope people have good luck with whatever they choose to use. As for me, I prefer the Premium Plus and I run a boat 250+ days a year. Never blown a power head yet using it in numberous motors of different brands. Thats my point.

I run the xp 100 E-tec oil in my Johnson and my son runs it in his 150 Y-hammer.
He showed me the difference. The synthetic oil will smoke less or be smoke free.
It will start easier and due to the less since the oil burns cleaner and leave very little soot in the engine.
Now as for cost the difference is the higher price and with cheaper oil you will have to decarb sooner or add the
Yamaha fuel and engine cleaning additives or run the synthetic and have a soot free engine.

It's still acting as a lubricant. Just not long enough to utilize its benefit. I'm not an oil expert by any means, but i don't see any added benefit from it

In your application it may be a viable alternative. I know my efi yamaha could probably smoke out the ramp without a drop of oil in it and i've never seen a puff of smoke even think about coming out of my budies optimax. Carbon (i'm fairly sure) is a product of any combustion motor whether its two or four stroke, so switching your oil isn't going to eleminate that, however it may decrease it (like i said i'm deffinately not an expert). It would be interesting to see some carbon studies and get some real facts on the matter. But as far as lubrication goes your just not going to see a difference.
