Hope you have had good luck with this oil...I know several guys that have blown power heads using Pennzoil.

I used Mercury Premium Plus when I ran Yamahas because it burned a lot cleaner than Yamalube. I run Mercurys now and still burn the Premium Plus. Its just great oil!

There is not a motor oil that you can use that will keep a motor from blowing up. Its almost never an oil issue. Many are because of the oiling system and many others because of injector failures of one sort of another but oil is almost never going to cause your motor to fail on a consumer engine. Thats my unprofessional opinion but one thats come from reading from some of the major players in the field.

If the Mercury Premium Plus and Mercury D.F.I. Gel when mixed why does the owners manual state that you can use the Mercury Premium Plus oil if you can't find the DFI Oil. When I had my Optimax, I mixed the two with no problems. I currently run Pennzoil Premium Plus in my 300 hp Yamaha. I also run Mercury Premium Plus when I first got the boat and mixed it with the Yamahalube that came with the boat and never had a problem. Can't find the Yamaha stuff now.

I have a 98 yamaha 200 3.1 fuel injected.......I ran yamalube in it until broken in and then switched to premiumplus. I wound up replacing the oxygen sensor and ultimatley running with one piston dry and burning the engine up. I had to have the engine rebuilt and after the rebuild (220 hours) I have run yamalube and ring free religiously in the engine. I have over 600 hours on the engine now and the only thing I have changed is the fuel stabilizer due to the alcohol content in the new gas. the engine is still ( Knock on wood) going strong. I know it is expensive, but I consider the cost of the rebuild and it doesnt even compare. I hope this helps

Not true, as long as the oil is TC-W 3 certified they are compatible. I brought this question up to a guy who works for Shell down on the coast, and he said its just a rumor and whats actually happened in these cases are guys accidentally poured lower unit gear oil into the 2 stroke oil. Also said the cheaper generic brands are bottled the same place the name brands are, you are just paying for the name on the container basically.

"AMSOIL" BEEN USEING THEIR PRODUCTS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. SYNTHETIC OILS ARE MUCH MORE SUPERIOR THAN MINERAL OILS.USE THEIR PRODUCTS IN HEAVY EQUIPMENT DOWN TO WEED EATERS.AS FAR AS WARRENTY ON NEW EQUIPMENT READ THE "MAGNUSON MOSS ACT"

I agree on the synthetics. They are far more superior and last twice as long. I am a fan of Royal Purple Synthetics. But, Amsoil was the first out there. I run Royal Purple in all of my industrial equipment on the pipeline and haven't had a bearing or gearbox failure in over 3 years. This is 24/7 on most of it. The bearing test machine that these companies have to sell it will prove it. The film strength of these two synthetics is absolutly amazing compared to other manufacturers. Even the big named synthetics don't compare

+1

But if paying top dollar for your oil helps you sleep at night, then by all means, pay up wink

If it is TCW-3 rated then it is safe to run and not void any warranty. After that run the type oil the manufacturer recommends be it synthetic blend or full synthetic in your confedence brand. As long as it is TCW-3 the manufacturer has to honor the warranty or they have to provide you with oil.

Exactly!!! Best answer to this post. Cant belive some people will say that Quicksilver oil is better than Yamalube when they are both made by the same oil manufacturer, lol. All TC-W3 oils are the same and will not void you warranty. If you read the cheap wal mart brand TC-W3 oil (SuperTech) it states clearly on the front of the bottle that it will work in TC-W3 rated Merc, Yamaha, Evenrude, etc. two stroke motors and that it will not void warranty of outboard.

As long as were talking myths we should throw the 'synthetic oil is better' one in too. Longer lasting, deffinately. Supperior protection, hardly. In a four stroke motor i'd run it all day. But if i'm going to burn it i fail to see the advantage.
