I dont think you can take a picture in full zoom from 200 yards away of a house cat....plus if thats a house cat then the road must be for small ATV's....If a regular house cat was sitting by the pond like that one is you would barely be able to see it from the tall grass and shrubs...I say definitely a Panther....only picture that's curious is the second pic....the eyes looks small and Panthers have a big eyes....I still say Panther

I had a jaguarundi stop in the middle of the road in Coleman county at 20 yards, middle of the day. Have trapped and killed dozens of bobcats, feral cats, and one young mountain lion so I am no novice. I believe that jaguarundis are more widespread and common that commonly thought. I beleive that most "black panther" sightings are jaguarundis. Those are the best pics of a wild jaguarundi I have ever seen. If you ever see one for yourself you will quickly realize that is for sure no housecat.

No such animal.........Things get repeated over and over again.

And you can tell yourself that over and over again and again. But when one runs in front of you, you will know. And good luck when you try to convince anyone else.

panthers and leopards all have a rounded ear, their feet and legs are proportionally much more heavily built. snouts are taller and faces look more blunt shaped, with jaws like pitbulls. something tells me you've had a bumper crop of field mice this year. if you trap him, come let him loose in my neighborhood... we'll see if he cant thin out the chihuahuas.

Just watched MonsterQuest where they looked at sightings such as these. Though they didn't catch any on their camera's, a couple of people from the northeast (West Virginia to be exact) caught a couple on video. He thought it was a bear, until the long tail. They sent the video to some forensic animator who determined the size of the cat in the video based on the trees around it. It measured 25 inches in length from end to end-not including the tail. The forensic animator made a comment about how a house cat is about half that size. He said, "That's a big cat."

And to all of you who were like "Black panthers are fiction"? Panthers and Mountain Lions are the same. Same as Puma's. BLACK Panthers/Mountains Lions are indeed possible but would happen about once in every 1000 (? some huge #) years. The chance of a human having a encounter with a black mountain lion would be one in a million. SO. The chance is there but highly highly highly unlikely.

NOW,what is most likely what some people in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona etc are seeing are Jaguars. Not Jaguarundi's; Jaguars. There is a population in Northern Mexico and they are known to have used to occupy Southern Texas. Theres a possibility they have moved north. A Jaguar Biologist in Arizona has caught two male normal colored spotted Jaguars in Arizona and one more that they don't know the sex of. A guy in Oklahoma has had several calves & a llama killed by one of these large cats.

As far as the photos posted here, I think Jaguarundi. If it were a young adolescent Jaguar, its mother would be still with it. Jaguar cubs stay with mom for 2 years.

Anyone with Netflix can see the episode I'm talking about. Its Monster Quest on Instant and episode 7.

The last documented Jaguar kill in Texas was in the Neches river bottoms(Angeiina Co.) around 1919 .This was in an article a few years back TPW magizine.
