I'm about to be spending a lot more time in the Houston area and with that will be a lot of down time between meetings and such. What are some tackle shops in the Houston (and surrounding) area? I'll probably be everywhere from Conroe to Sugarland, Lake Jackson, Galveston and all around the inside of Houston. Just looking for some tackle shops to spend a little time and probably a little money (that part I won't tell my wife about).

Academy is hard to beat. Fishing tackle unlimited is good, but the skanks don't sell full sized sand eels...

Be careful when you walk into FTU...leave your high limit credit cards at home....It can be dangerous!

fishing tackle unlimited/cut rate are both great, one is on 45 south just after fuqua and the other one is on I-10 in between echo lane and voss next to carter country.

academy is pretty much everywhere and then theres bass pro shop by 288 and beltway 8 on the way to lake jackson.

LETS FISH!!

For saltwater gear, I would stick to FTU or Marbergers. Academy is good for the basic stuff.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

thanks guys for the info. i'll have to check out FTU and Marbergers. i know bass pro, academy, and gander have plenty of stuff. but i like the smaller shops... seem to have better conversations. keep em coming!

that's it? Big Box Store, or FTU?? No smaller "mom and pop" tackle shops around? I guess I can burn some time in Bass Pro and Gander. Archery always occupies plenty of my time too.
