It's a lot more time and money than you think! People staying there won't clean the place and each time it's rented out you need to make sure it's acceptable for the next group. I have thought about the same thing and ended up getting a place in Little Mustang that is a lake front trailer with a dock and it's a lease. The owner does everything all I do is pay my electric bill and go play!! Owning is a lot more work than you think. If your only using it 2-3 times a year it's going to be wise to stay at LFM or somewhere like that.
The only reason I didn't do it is because people don't take care of your stuff!! You will spend more money on repairs than it's worth! When I do buy it will be for me and no one will be living in my house when I'm not there!

rent it out or not, i think it would be great to have a house on fork,I have a friend that lived there for years. You better have deep pockets if your talking water front.

taxes, keeping the maintenance up, boat docks, seawalls etc.

if you have the money to have maids to keep it clean and landscapers to keep it manicured it would be great, otherwise you spend all your time cleaning, doing maintenance and yard work and acutally fish less than if you just pulled your boat down and stayed somewhere for the weekend and went back.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan
