Fished at Reimers today and ended up catching 37. It was a blast too. Saw several of the fish open their mouth and take the jig. It was so clear that I was sight fishing for a little while. See some fish, pitch the bait to them, work it work it, and bang, fish on.

luvfishn- we went to big creek for crappie,no luck!!, then went down by newmansbottom couple of guys caught crappie but very few!gates still open at spillway so crappie are still scattered on main lake.i think crappie are lockjaw untill they close the gates and water temp. warms up!if you have boat im sure you could find them on lake around brush, and structure, probably another two weeks before youll start seeing them in shallows and in the creeks, just my opinion, but sure havin fun catchin whites for now, also couple of my buds said they are catchin cats way up stream ......

Here are my thoughts for you crappie fisherman. Right now the crappie are full of eggs and going into their spawn pattern. When they do this, they move up into the shallow water, make beds to spawn on, and they chase bait fish in and around the shore line around brush or grass along the banks, so right now they have moved off their normal staging areas, which would be structure in the deeper water. Spawning crappie can be very productive during this time, but you have to go fish areas in which they are in and around now. I would forget the marinas right now, and start looking for a good bite a long the shore lines. Ive heard of anglers that take their long poles and walk the banks and dangle their jigs in front of steep banks, brush, or grass and they do very well this time of the year. Some of them even wade fish along the shallow shore lines. In about 5 or 6 weeks the fish should return to their normal areas again, but for now, you are going to have to look for them in shallower water.
Im not a big crappie fisherman myself, but this is what Ive read or heard from other avid crappie anglers in the past.

A lot of folks have no clue as to what they are doing. You see it day in and day out down there. They throw some of the most unwanted baits to these fish and wonder why they can't get a bite.
Brandon, what does the water look like?

Still moving pretty fast, a little high, and dirty. Looks like it has gone down a foot or so since monday. Banks are nice and slick so be careful!

Thanks for the up date.
I may slip back over there on Monday. I would like to go tomorrow but I have other issues to deal with, but Monday is open.
Hope I can get another limit or two.
I just need to chnge out my spools before going. Four pound test line isn't for the Yegua. You need at least six pound test just to get some of the fish up on the bank.
I'll post some time tomorrrow when I plan to go if any one wants to meat up out there.

I haven't decided if I am going to go in the morning or not. If I don't go tomorrow, I won't be able to go again until next Weds-Thurs. Long week of work this week.

The last few times it has all been different. One day I did best with a rooster tail type lure, yesterday they hit pretty much anything (i used a road runner with grub tail), and today they said they were hitting grubs, but it was slow. I heard they were catching some bigger fish upstream from NB/downstream from IB.

Well I may check out NB first, but if the lake water is still up there like it has been in the past three weeks, then I'll drive back over to the bridge area. I like to fish in areas with a pretty good current flow in it.

Grubs -- Jigs -- Roadrunners -- Live bait I have no clue as to why I asked you what you guys were using, because I know what I'm throwing, the same thing I always use, a jig. LOL
