Not even close. Look at dirt road for reference. Cats not even as long as one tire track is wide. Pretty Kitty though! Maybe its a baby panther!

Oh yea, anyone who thinks they heard a true black Jaguarundi is really old as they have been extinct from east Texas since the early 1900's. Common in the late 1800's they were hunted to extintion. Went the way of the bear in east Texas. Only big bass in east Texas now.

JCBfromTHF is correct, there has never been a confirmed sighting of a black panther aka black mountain lion, mountain lion or cougar, whichever you prefer, are not melanistic. No sighting, no kill or corpse.

True 361V, the jagarundi is really not even black, they are reddish brown or dark grey.

Thanks for sharing!!! I look forward to the scale comparison pics.
I have seen a charcoal colored jaguarundi from a bowstand at 20 yards in North TX...that's exactly what you photographed I believe.

Plain and simple, very large feral cat of the domestic variety! These pics have been sent to TPWD, and if they can state without a doubt that it is anything but a feral cat I'll gladly spend a month on the WOS. Not a jaguarundi, not a melanisic jaguar, definitley not a melanistic mountain lion(non-exsistent). *I do believe Mexicajun is correct, Big Fisherman had a melanistic jaguar before the fire.

Guys, please refrain from posting any sarcastic comments on this thread. Try to give the original thread starter a little respect. If you can't post something positive to the thread then avoid posting anything at all. Thanks! Bob

In one of the photos there appears to be marks around the neck that could have been made by a collar. But judging from the length of the tail only, it's more likely a really big male house cat because the Jaguarundi's tail could touch the ground when standing up as with most big cats. I found this on the web which could be it's twin brother living in Florida .. (copyrighted photo so I'll just link to it..) http://images.quickblogcast.com/9/8/8/4/2/133552-124889/black_cat_in_pool.jpg
