the person that took the pic states the road is 8 ft. Most of us are surrounded by 8 ft walls at this moment. How many of you have seen housecats that are 4 ft long ?
Most likely a Jaguarundi.
MO My cat is 44" from tip to tail. He's a BIIIIIIIIG tomcat.

Better take another look at those pics I think I saw a big foot in the brush behind that panther. From page 2 That about fill's the quota for big foot jokes on this thread... Overton did you send the photos to TPWD or a local feild office or something?

In all seriousness, if your cat is truly that big, since you live in North Richland Hills and Buffalo is only a couple of hours down I-45 towards Houston, maybe you guys can get together and take some pictures of your cat in the same place for comparison? That would give us some real perspective on this subject including the shape that everyone seems to think is so critical.

That aint no freaking house cat...... look at the belly of that thing then go home and look at the belly of your feline, also a felines tail tapers to the end. This cats keep's his width all the way to the tip just like every mountain lion I've ever seen. Also the distance between the fore legs and back legs......no way you run of the mill tom cat.
Put a picture of an adolescent cougar next to this thing and I bet you have an exact match.

What you have there is a Chupacabra Ok and with that we have reached the quota for chupacabra post's on this thread I look forward to seeing the pic's of items to get an idea of scale....I just don't see how a person could think a house cat was something else you sound reasonably stable when compared to most on the tff so I have to think what you saw was out of the ordinary and not a feral cat...posting from phone, sorry for spelling

I may have missed this on the earlier pages. but are there no tracks to measure? a big, heavy cat would leave good prints.

First off, Todd Overton is as honest as they come.
Todd, I've spent almost my entire 49 years in some type of outdoor endeavour, and I have never seen a cat like that of the proportions you describe. What about the tracks...dimensions?
The head does not have the blocky structure of a panther or jaguarundi. However, the cat's length, shoulders and tail all closely resemble the larger cats. I've seen two live ocelots on a former deer lease in Webb County, and this cat has the same profile, only with a melanistic coat.
All I know is it is a cat of some sort, beyond that, I have no idea WTH it is. Todd, please let us know when you figure it out.

Better yet live trap that kitty using fish for bait. Those south american cats love fish, and if that is really what it is then you should get it. Put the trap in a tree so you can keep dogs out of it. Should get racoon, possum, or cat that way.

That is definately bigger than a housecat. I'm guessing a small panther. Looking at the picture of it standing in the middle of the road over the grass the runs through the middle of the road it seems bigger than a housecat. Unless its a really tiny road
I may not always be right but I'm never wrong.
