Kyle46N-Would you still put in at pops place to search for the crappie on the main lake or is there another place to launch a canoe? Have you seen any correlation of when you catch fish to when the fronts come through? Pressure was dropping pretty steadily when you were catching them. I would think that it would affect crappie more than whites.
Good luck with the surgery!

No not this year from Pops for crappie. Water is way too low. Last spring there were quite a few in the area where I was catching whites the other day...but the water was also about 6 to 7 feet higher. I fish for crappie in the coves just up the lake from the park road 37 boat ramp. There are several coves that go back a ways. Crappie get in there around the docks and other timber in the spring. Some of those deeper trees hold fish too. Usually the second day after a front, the pressure is stable and fish become more active.

Went down there today and walked from Pop's place. Started out slow and I walked down to the RV park. There was a couple a people fishing, one guy had two and another had five, a couple of guys in a boat that hadn't got into any yet either. Started heading back upriver and finally got into a few but they were small. A lot of em would chase the lure but not many biting. a white marabou jig caught most of them and a couple on gulp minnows. They wouldn't touch roadrunners or curly tail jigs. Caught maybe 15 fish, ended up with only six keepers and a little LMB. But did get this really nice female. Here is the LMB. When I was leaving I talked to an older gentleman and he said the run hasn't really got going yet and that when it did, they would run up past pop's as long as the water is running through there. I don't know how accurate he is but thought I would pass it along.

Thats a Guadalupe bass Mike. Nice one. Nice white too. In my opinion, the water is too clear to get them to hit flashy or bright colored jigs. Or at least to catch large numbers. Here are the colors that I was throwing. Kalins I used chartruese shad, bleeding tennesse shad, junebug/chartreuse, tennesse shad, blue n' silver. They hammered all these colors in the clear water....same with the Guadalupe. Some of these colors also are made by Southern Pro grubs sold at Academy. Chartreuse shad and bleeding shad. Throw them on a plain jighead. It works!

Next time I go I'll give some of those others a try. What size were you throwing? I was using 2" with 1/32, 1/16, and 1/8 oz jigheads. The BPS site is having technical problems so I can't get there. I did throw the tennessee shad, a natural colored grub, white, yellow, chartreuse, pumpkin, red; literally every color I had and they would follow it but they just wouldn't hit any color. I slowed it down and sped them up, set them on the bottom, lol. Just one of those days I guess.
I still had fun so I can't complain too much. I hope that guy was right about the run just starting cause that area is nice and it would be good to not have to walk as far. I did find it amazing to see all those floating docks just setting on the ground so far up the banks.

I recently bought a little place in Lakehills, go up there every weekend to work on it, maybe this time I'll get the Kayak out and try to find those whites. Is it hard to find that place to put in at? I've only been through Mico once. Thanks Larry

Hit the Medina this morning. Parked and paid $5 at Pop's around 10:30 and walked downstream maybe a 1/4 mile. Caught and released 17 before leaving shortly after 1. The majority were caught before noon then things slowed down. All caught on jigs, white or chartreuse, with the latter producing best. No females that I could tell unless they've spawned out alredy which I doubt.
