I had the opportunity to fish an 18 acre private East Texas ranch lake today with my dad and the property owner. A picture is worth a thousand words, so I will let them do most of the talking. Be warned, there are bunch of images.

When we got down to the water, the owner pulled out a 6" saltwater swim bait. As I look at him kinda funny, he says watch this, and chunks it out there. He cranks it a couple times...BIG FISH ON!!


My next move is to go back to the truck for my big Sassy Shad I use at Texoma for Stripers. I think its about 4 inches. 1st cast...

What followed was a chunk bass on every cast all day. I caught at least 50-60 total! I will post pics of the 21 biggest in a minute...

After we got bored with the bass we decided to try for some crappie. We only got 7, but they were all slabs! I even got one on a 10ft cane pole.

I loaded up another minnow and it got nailed by a big bass and broke off. I put the cane pole up and started serious fishing again. We got nice mess of crappie and caught a bunch more bass while we were at it.

I was a little nervous this guy might swoop down and grab one of my fish as I tried to land it.

HOLY MOLY! thats alot of bass! I had a day like that on a privet pond once but not near THAT good, were most caught on a swim bait of some sort? Im guessng no need to fish a worm on the bottom

Kalub, I manage that lake for Woody. There are some some really nice fish in that lake. I have sampled several over 8 lbs during electrofishing surveys. Here's one from last year
