Was in birch last year in april and saw a gator that was about 5 feet. I got within a few feet of him and he never moved. I was also swimming in lake hawkins years ago when one swam through the swimming area.

When was the last alligator attack on a human in Texas? And if the "victim" was doing something stupid like intentionally provoking the gator, trying to catch or wrassle it, or something equally dumb it doesn't count.

That kind of stuff should fall under the category of "improving the gene pool", not being a victim.

I want to know of the last known incident in which a gator actually attacked and injured (or killed) someone who was fishing, swimming, or otherwise going about his or her business.

They do not bother anybody! So nobody should bother them. They make for a nice story and a great picture.

According to this, as of 2007 there had never been a single documented death in Texas history from an alligator attack...and only around a dozen non-fatal incidents.

http://blogs.chron.com/shannontompkins/2...r_incident.html

You are probably a thousand times more likely to be killed by another boater than to be attacked by an alligator.
