Just for there fish handling skills alone is enough for me!! Is it really that hard to have someone walk the 15 ft to the bank and release them properly? Or were they just to busy picking them up off the ground.

Sorry I don't get that nothing was said or done. It would have taken one man to step up and say something, out loud. The rest usually follow. These are the kind of tourneys that give a bad name to fishermen. Please stand uop for the right thing. You'll feel better that you did.

I am not trying to start something but this really upset my 20 year old son the way they were handling the fish. I saw someone toss a fish when i was loading my boat but my son told me that all of them were given a air plane ride,, one of the (hope to get paid) winners my son said had a 10# fish. Good fish for Athens. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't see anything. I heard them talking up there and the guy said first place had a 6.5lb or so bass and that was big bass as well. How could he have forgotten a 10#er so quickly?

Yes,it will. Post tournament mortality is up to 50% on tournament fish that are released alive. Mortality is only 1-3% on catch and immediate release fish. I agree but Still those numbers have alot to do with how people care for the fish.

Our club has a payout schedule. All you have to do is look on the spreadsheet for the "number of entries" column, follow it down, and it tells you the payout for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and big bass.

might want to let dfg know about the handeling and such, and spread the word, who hosted this, who was the primary club or who sactioned it? Important for all of us to know, because I can tell you, If I was there and had won, I would have gotten paid right then. How rediculous for them to say they dont wanto count the money.....bad bad bad

The people that witnessed the poor handling of fish, should have spoken up. It does not do any good coming on a forum complaining about someone mishandling fish and the people complaining did nothing to stop it. In my opinion they are just as guilty as the person mishandling them.. Bennie

Not good by any means. No excuse for not paid everyone immediately after weigh-in. Also no excuse for not doing a better job of handling the fish. I agree that we need to hear both sides of the story before anyone starts making accusations but, I think we have heard the same story from enough people to be sure that payout did not occur at conclusion of weigh-in and the fish were seriously mishandled and both of those are absolutely wrong.

We do the same thing Razorback. We have a payout sheet. Saturday at Tawakoni after everyone had registered we did a count of the money, and separated the payouts in to envelopes BEFORE we (myself and the TD) ever left the ramp. Our members pay in cash and get paid out in cash. We bag the fish to weigh, and put them back in the members water filled bags where they take them to the shore and release them back in to the lake. I guarantee if we saw someone throwing fish from a distance in to the lake there would be several someones that would talk to that person. This is not an organization I would have anything to do with.
