I'm a braid freak as well and I can say I have tried most of them. I haven't tried the Samarai yet but Suffix is far and away better than the rest. I have some Suffix 50# on one of my saltwater reels for two years now and it won't give up. I keep thinking I should change it but nothing has broken off yet on that line. I have PowerPro on some other reels and it looks a lot worse after a few uses than the Suffix has after years. I'm not saying PowerPro is bad but it doesn't cast near as smooth and far or hold up near as well as the Suffix. I only tried the Power Pro because it was so much cheaper than the Suffix ($10 less for 300yd spool). The only reason I still buy PowerPro, the colors. The red and yellow are nice. Unfortunately, almost a week ago I got broke off at SeaWolf by a bullred after he spooled me for 200 yards of 30# PowerPro. He took off with my line like I left the drag open. I gave it two clicks of drag and it snapped. I wish he had picked up my Suffix setup. I would have had one more bullred to my name.

Crankbait,
Youve managed to get a really good thread going. Nice!
I have not used the Suffix Performance Braid, but Im anxious to give it a try.
Ive used Daiwa Samurai 30, and 40 pound test braid. Heres my thoughts on it.
Doesnt work well on my Shimano baitcasting reels. The line bites into itself quite badly.
Works very well on my Abu Mrrums. This is because Mrrums have the Triple-Cross level wind which lays the line across the line below it.
Samurai is with out question the best handling braid that Ive used to date.
Samurai has very little line noise as compared to every other braid that Ive used except perhaps Berkley Whiplash.
MY BIG BEEF: In the pound tests that Ive used I can snap the line when casting a lure. Samurai has poor shock strength in the pound tests that Ive used.
It could very well be that in the higher pound tests that Samurai has enough shock strength to avoid snapping on casts. I cant say though as Ive not used the higher tests.
Im really looking forward to giving the Suffix Performance Braid a whirl, but Im going to go with 65 pound test or better.
TFP

It does. Walmart only carries it in moss green, but you can order the hi vis yello from most tackle sites that carry it.

Love me some braid. Power pro in 40/50 is my favorite for baitcast worming/general duty, 65 for frogs and pitching. Have found that I get fewer windknots with 10-14 lb Fireline on my spinning gear. Totally don't understand why some people hate the superlines. Honestly, the strength is the least of its advantages in my opinion. It's the sensitivity and casting distances that keeps me coming back. Crankbait, MY BIG BEEF: In the pound tests that Ive used I can snap the line when casting a lure. Samurai has poor shock strength in the pound tests that Ive used.
I kinda wonder about this stuff. Might help with the shock strength problem you're talking about TFP. Anyone tried this? I might try it when my current power pro needs replacing. Maybe in a year or two. Still have one all mono combo for crankbaits, maybe I could try it there. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Sufix_Performance_Stretch_Braid_150yds/descpage-SPSB.html

i just wish it came in high vis!!! It comes in two awesome high vis colors. There is a yellow and red they call neon fire I think. They're both awesome with flouro leader. I am trying to find a place I can get the 65# test in all three colors on large spools though. No one has the big spools in the stores. Let me know if some has them. Oh and Suffix has coupons you can print from their website for $6 and $10 off.

I use Suffix Performance Braid and Power Pro, love both of them, just stay away from stren and spiderwire---I've had bad luck with both.

I can't help but hear that in the voice of Nacho Libre ) might be the ticket, but the one of the big reasons for fishing braid in the first place is that is so low stretch. TFP

Love suffix. Wish they still made the 40 pound test. Didn't care much for the cheaper spiderwire braid. I've found something I like, so I'm sticking with it. Great for worming/pitching/flipping. I prefer mono for cranking however.

If you love the light stuff (20-50lb) then you would really love the big stuff (80lb +) You no longer have line bury itself on heavy pulls. You break swivels, weights, and leader line...hardly ever break the braid.
I was a Power Pro fan for a long time. Still like it. I hate Spiderwire braids (weak, stiff, and short lived.) The Stren Braid was good, just too limp for what I was trying to use it for. It was extremely difficult to push it thru slip corks. My PP has been replaced though with Tug 0' War. Better color, better price.

Sufix Performance is the best I've found for use on a baitcaster! Haven't tried them all, but it exceeds PowerPro and Spider Wire Stealth by a wide margin for Froggin. Love that 50# Sufix for Froggin! I've had it spooled on one of my baitcasters for going on 3 yrs and see no reason to change it out yet. Yes, it fades like the rest, but casts smoother and maintains shape better with far less fraying in my experience. Plus, I've had no issues with knot slippage using either an 8 wrap Uni-knot or a Double Palomar. Can't wait to try the new Sufix 832 coming out this fall that won best line at I-Cast 2010.

Suffix is as rough as sand paper and don't cast as far as Power Pro in my opinion. It also is a very light shade of green and fades out very quickly.
