Looking to take father in law to Lake Granbury this sunday for some catfishing, does anyone have any tips, baits, and locations to catch catfish at Granbury? Any help would be appreciated.

Sir I also live in Granbury and Though Tom Whitlock is a fantastic Guide he does not guide Granbury right now. Fish are very hard to come by Catfish anyway. I fish for them probably three times a week here. The best bet for you is If you know the lake at all. Here is where to try IF you put in at the Dam head South or West follow the channel markers about a mile around there are two inlets on the left. You will know your close by the high line wires crossing the lake. They are side by side almost. The first you come to head in and go to the back of the cove just straight in from main lake. Fish the bank and trees right near the back don't go lft. when you enter just straight back gravel bank should be some flooded stuff there also, and lots of timber. Then if that does not produce go just out of cove and enter the next you actually just go out turn lft and into the next cove. Got to the cables and tie up against them about in the middle fish straight down on the lake side. I fish with shad and Mr. Whiskers. IF that does not work you can work the bank as you go out to the lft again just fish that bank it is pretty long. IF that does not work and you should be able to tell within 15min. each spot. if the fish are there. You can also keep going S-W and go around the bend there is alot of standing timber be careful water is up and timber just beneath water. Also stay out from bank when you get close to the bend to the lft. bid sand bar near bank that comes out pretty far. Best to stay plenty far out and round bend until you get to where the timber is then head into it. All this is just follow the lake away from Dam area. If you put in at Rough Creek head out into main lake but don't turn and just go straight across towards bank. The very first stump you see sticking up fish there. IF not head towards 377 bridge and fish about middle of bridge up under it. If you put in at the down town ramp go under bridge you cross and fish those trees sticking out of water. I like the one that is kinda by itself or furthest one East. There is also another tree all by itself further towards the 377 bridge that is a producer also. You can also try cork fishing the rocks just after you come under the town bridge on the rt. They are actually the rocks that run along the road. The slu leaving the boat ramp there is not bad either just sometimes to much boat traffic there. but it is not bad if there are not many boats launching. Hope you can understand some of this and just whatever when navigating this lake best to stay near channel markers, when going very far or fast. Tom is a very very good friend of mine and I fish with him alot his bait works very well on this lake as any lake. Mr. Whiskers you can get it at the Wal-Mart in Granbury. Have any more questions PM and will give you my # and might be able to explain better. Just don't get hopes up to much this is not your best catfish lake around.

Chuckles advice is as good/specific as you will get...
Going toward the river is a good option if its closer for you. Just go north past the 51 bridge and keep following the channel markers. The river and lake have been muddy on the north side which has made it difficult. However sand bass will be up there. You can usually catch some cats in the timber headed up into the river as well.

Hookem Man none taken at all. TxCatfishGuide I know it says that on his Web Site. We talked about it Tues. while we were fishing Richland Chambers. Not enough fish right now and the ones you do catch are mostly 10-11" fish. I do know it says that on his web site though. I don't know if he is going to change it or if he has had time that i don't know. Yeah if you head up river be sure to follow the boueys it turns hard right just pass Hunter Park and runs not real far out from the bank then turns hard lft. then rt. again and into the river. Back in the summer I had to pull my boat thru one section where the old bridge dealy's are but should be fine now. That also is very good. I don't sand fish so could not tell you anything other than they do catch them up river past Tin Top bridge mainly. I fished the river alot and should be getting good up that way with the warmer water lots of fallen down stuff and rock ledges. Good luck to you hope you catch a bunch.
