Has any of ya'll tried to eat buffalo? I have seen one cleaned and the meat looked good enough. I bowfish for them during the spawn near Lake Palestine. I always give them away, but I'm wondering if I should be eating them myself.

Oh yeah, your right, I can see that. I'm sorry everyone, I'm still pretty new here on this forum. I meant no offense. I fish a variety of ways, all legal. I didn't reallize this is a rod and reel only forum. I get some pretty good tips from here, and don't want to make anybody sore at me. Forget the "B" part of the question.

TSU99, I never ate one but that's what TPWD has to say about eating them. These guys get a little touchy about bow fishing (even catch and hot grease rod and reel fishing at times), so you're best not to mention it.

FISH ON!!! ummmmm off

sorry for the blunt answer, at the top of the forum page there is a warning about refereing to B fishing in this part of the forum, when you first click onto rough fish section you will see it at the top.

as far as eating goes I have never tried it but have heard from a few that it tastes pretty good if you can get away from all the small bones.

Oh WOW!! How could I miss that! Your comment didn't bother me. It was something I needed to know. I'll just watch my steps better.

What I was told to do is to fillet the Buff like normal, cut out the rib section and fry the ribs. Then you only have a few large bones, and few if any small bones.

Oh and be sure to cut out the roe. Thats what makes them taste bad in most cases.

NOTE: I've never tried this. Just what I was told.

I fry it from time to time when I have leftovers. Cut out the red lat line, cut into chunks and place X cuts through them as it seems to help with the smaller bones. Bread and fry.
