carrot stix get bashed a lot but i have 1 7ft md strictly for t-rigs and love the sensitivity and my gf just got me the 7ft 6 flippin stick and i love it too. I think they just made a bad batch of rods and didnt catch the mistake in time. I love the 2 i have and when the funds come available i will buy another

Have 3 gold carrot stix and have 2 1/2 years on them now with no problems. Light, sensitive and plenty stout.

Just broke my carrot stick! They will replace it but $39.99 handling and shipping charges + my freight to them for my broken rod. Nice of them to replace but still out about $60. Not a good replacement solution in my opinion!

All you folks saying "forget this and buy Brand X need to learn to read. The title of the thread is "Skeet Reese vs. Carrot Stix". I didn't see the guy ask about Loomis or any other brand ... I'm just sayin ! We're all glad y'all went out and spent $300 on a Loomis ... no way in he11 you can compare it to a $90 Skeet Reese rod. Get real! (a little punctuation would help on some of the posts too) Y'all carry on! I like my Falcon Caras!

I broke a few of them and have even encountered other customers returning broken Carrots to BPS while I was in line to return mine while staring at disbelief at the buggy full of broken Carrots behind the counter while having the manager tell me he has never seen such a problem in all of 15 years working at BPS and then offering me credit towards any other brand to get me out of the junk Carrot.

I went to a store that had both rods and a few others and I can tell you my 2 cents only they both SUCK... The skeet rod is heavey the carrot who knows when it will break and the others I looked at I will not name are just as bad. Most of the time I see rods on here that get pushed b/c it fits there pocket book and it's the best rod out. Trust me spend the extra money for a good rod and you will see why they cost much more...

They arent Boyd Duckett (formally) Rods but Carrot Sticks. Ok I got that off my chest. Sorry! LOL

I am Loomis all the way except for the frog rod, I think the skeet frog rod is better and a third of the price.

I bought a Carrot Stix from Cabelas and haven't had any problems with it. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that got a good one. It is one of the most sensitive rods that I have used and I have been through a bunch of rods and different manufacturers in 30 years of fishing.
My current favorite rods are the Dobyns. They are light, sensitive, strong, and are VERY well balanced. They just came out with a new line of rods that are in the $150 price range. Now the Carrot Stix that I got was the top of the line Boyd Duckett gold series so it really isn't fair to compare it to the Skeet Reese rod.
I looked at the Skeet Reese line of rods. To me they were a bit heavy and aren't balanced all that well but that is usually what you find with an inexpensive rod. They may be fine rods, I don't know, they didn't appeal to me though.

Why by a rod that has such a bad reputation for breakage? If the lifetime warranty costs you $60 everytime you need to use it it isn't much of a warranty. My next rod will be a 8'0" Tessera. BTW, a Loomis is a Shimano, they were bought years ago. If you want a Gary Loomis designed rod you need to find a Temple Creek Outfitters dealer. http://www.tforods.com/gary-loomis-freshwater-rods.html

Four Carrotstix and never had one break on me yet. Lightest most sensitive rod I have fished with period. I do believe you guys talking about the rods breaking and I think they did have a bad batch after Duckett endorsed them but our rods seem extremely good and the warranty on ours is free replacement unless they changed it. I believe Loomis is 50 bucks plus shipping for replacement also.
