The only BPS spinning combo I bought is the one I have just replaced. While it worked, it would get more rats nests and it caused more problems than the Okuma and even the shakespeare I got at wally world that are still working fine. Paid $35 at BPS and $20 and $13 respctively for the other two. All used about the same. Had the same line off the same spool that was rated for each pole. If I was ripping lures through heavy cover, saltwater fishing or abusing them then I would pay more and get better stuff. But for the light fishing I do with the kids for channel cats and sunfish they work fine. I guess everybody gets a lemon once in a while.

When it comes to buying rods and reels, I goto Gander Mtn. Yes many of their other products are over priced, but I can usually find decent deals on combos. And have never had any defaults with them....But like what was mentioned earlier, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
