Dude if there's a NO TRESPASSING sign then don't trespass! Pretty simple. Don't dog on the lady cop, she was given a call to go handle by her dept's dispatch. If she doesn't go then she gets in trouble, loses her job, can't pay her bills, etc... I would love to walk into a bank and say "give me a million bucks" but that's against the law and I know if I do it I will go to jail... so I don't do it. Plenty of places where it's ok to fish, just go there instead. so DAN what have you been catching in this privater tank???the way I read your postif you fished every weekend for the last 9 months you should be issued approx 36 tickets for NO TRESPASSINGthe owner might have been stocking this pond'maybe you should pay for the fish you have removed

If you want to access a pond regardless of where it is located, contact the owner of the property (can be done at the tax office) and get written permission from the landowner.
It is no different to have someone come onto your property, set up a campsite, tent, campfire, in your front yard in front of your house and relax in a hammock or lawn chair...it is trespassing. If that landowner gave you permission, then you would be legal to set up a campsite or fish their pond, otherwise, it is trespassing.
That's one reason why there is so little access to so many farm ponds not to mention hunting throughout the state since others did not take care of the land they were given permission on (not saying you didn't, because you did gather trash before you left) but by others or didn't abide by the landowners 'do's and don'ts' or thought you could just meander on the land since it wasn't posted or signed...it doesn't have to be in Texas.
Landowners just don't want to deal with the hassle anymore, or at least some of them do not, plus the possibility of the ones on their land sueing them for an accident, sting, bite, broken this or that, etc.

For you fellers who think that us cops are only out to screw the little man and not worry about the big criminals should really get out on the street and do our job. It pisses me off every time some one complains that a cop is doing their job. OK so they aren't always so friendly about it, we have bad days too. Every call is important to the person that calls it in. They want something done and its the officers job to see that through. It may seem minor to you, but someone thought that it was important enough to report it. Put it in perspective. I am an avid outdoorsman and believe that every person should follow the law. Learn the law or ask someone before you go out and do it. And posting on here is not always a great idea, Ive seen several posts with bad info on the law. If the sign was there the sign was there and you are in the wrong. Just because you have been fishing there for 9 months or a lifetime doesnt make it legal. A private lake or pond does not count as navigable water unless it has a public access point, and I dont mean just some place that you can get to it. Only lake designated as public are for public use. Everything else is private and someone, somewhere owns it and may not want you on it. BTW a criminal trespass offense of that nature is a class B misdemeanor. Read more on the law here. Offenses Agaist the Property-Texas Penal Code Chp 30
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

Believe me, there are some great looking ponds near my residence that have no tresspassing signs and I wouldn't dare fish them without permission. But that's just me.

We use "having a bad day" as a gneral term. Kinda hard to be nice to some one who wants to argue with you over a speeding ticket when you just got done pulling a car out from under a bus because they were speeding and ran a red light. Some folks just dont get it.
