Big D, yes there are fish in nails...the time frame they will be there and the quantity of fish is much less than Yegua, but they are there.

Fishing Mama, you gotta understand that there is a lot of pressure on the areas around the bridge...sometimes you have to be willing to walk to a less fished area. That could be a mile or two, but if you stay around the bridge, you will compete with all the 1000 of anglers that go to that area. Walk till you find them. Good luck.

Do you recommend going upstream or downstream?

I've heard several on here (Doug-Fishytx) talk about going upstream and killing not only the Whites, but the Crappie too. I personally go down...no reason, just always had luck that way.

Saw a bad wreck at the 124 turn off at daybreak today. NBS Chevy Silverado 1500 Pewter Extended cab turned the corner into rising sun glare and got t-boned by a blue SUV. Chevy was trying to turn into 124. I hope it wasn't one of the guys on here. If so I hope you and your son make it ok.

It was pretty serious. Medifight was involved and traffic was held up for over 1.5 hrs.

I kayaked all the way up Jerdelle Thursday. Only one 3# black bass while jigging for crappie. Sure was tough fishing but what a beautiful sunny day to be out in the woods.. I also walked way up Cedar creek at around 3pm nothing there either frown but the water sure is looking good! I didn't check on Nails or the Yegua so what did I miss?

To bad you didn't catch much but thanks for the report! I'm wondering if any one did any good on yegua too.

Well shoot, I didnt get a limit of whites today. But I made up the difference with some crappie. I fished upstream from the bridge.

The bite on the whites has slowed down a little. I think this cold weather has cooled the water down enough that it has caused the fish to retreat back into some deeper water. I only had two females out of the nineteen whites I caught, and the fish were not moving around much. You had to work pretty hard to find a bite. In other words, I had to move around from hole to hole more today than I normally do.

But thats okay, I found a couple of holes that were holding some nice crappie. I dont think I have ever caught this many crappie while I was fishing for whites, but I like it. I threw back a bunch of crappie that were just ten inches long because Ive seen fish shrink in length after they have been caught due to stress, and I did not want to take a chance on getting fined for having some under size crappie.

From what I saw and from what I heard from other anglers, I dont think to many folks caught fish today. I saw several anglers and not one of them caught a fish nor did I see any stringers of fish. So maybe I didnt do so bad after all.

19 whites & 11 crappie, Im not complaining.

Here are a couple of pictures of the holes I caught the whites in.

And this would be the pictures of my catch today. I didnt bleed the fish today so they would look better in the photos. I wont ever do that again, the fillets are really bloody. Ill have to soak em a little before I freeze em.

I'd say you did alright. Your freezer must be overflowing by now.
