Maybe you should read my original post again. I did not in any way say or imply that I was speaking for the entire sport. I clearly stated that it was my opinion.

I am assuming with your statement "The bottom line is that he is a differerent kind of person, and he is your "typical" bass fisherman with the flat billed cap, bigger pants, skateboarding shoes" that you are speaking for the entire sport since I did not see anything indicating that was just your opinion.

I do have my opinion of him, which I think I am free to express, and I do not like his antics. If you see it as being enthusiastic and energetic, good for you. I just see it differently. I am much more impressed with KVD and yes, Denny B. I think they are both very professional in their conduct and they are a very positive reflection on Bass fishing. I have not tried in any way to discredit what "Ike" does with kids or anyone else when he is off camera.

Funny thing is that I like him because of the reasons most people dont. He is different, he has energy when he is doing well and when he isnt. He has a passion for what he does and shows it.

I believe cabin fever is hitting new highs in here. It's almost like the OT.

People hated Cassius Clay for his antics also. But he did more to bring back boxing than anyone.Ike is a very similar competitor in that he has livened up his sport and guess who we are talking about.I don't seem to recall folks complaining about Fish Fishburn and his antics and they were every bit as much as Ike's.Maybe its that Ike is from the north....Fish talks like us so he is alright.

One thing for sure: He's probably a millionaire X2. Probably going to the Toyota dealership right now to pick up his new free truck. I guess his antics are working. Sounds to me like he has two different personalities (one for the camera and sponsors and the other for kids...).

He can blow a lougie through EITHER nostril and hit a target the size of a GOLF BALL that is TEN FEET away!

Nothing gets this forum more fired up than a discussion about Ike or Pit Bulls. So let's just go ahead and throw this one over the top.....






Seriously, this world is filled with tons of different people from all different walks of life. In the last few years our sport is showing that to an extent. It's changing as more young anglers from different walks of life enter this sport. Ike reflects a sort of counter culture to most bass fisherman we grew up with. He is from more of a Suburban upbringing than alot of folks who bass fish around this part of the country. But even we see it here with the Dallas Metroplex. Kids who grew up skateboarding and the like who grew up in the city and not the country. Ike helps bring them to the sport of bass fishing, that grows the sport which gives us more influence.

Ike shares a very similar background to my own. I grew up skateboarding and I had skis on my feet by the time I was 4. When snowboarding came along I gravitated toward that because I had been on a skateboard most of my life. I also DJ'd my way through college at local clubs and the like. I mostly listen to Electronic music and Hip/Hop, but I enjoy all kinds. I wouldn't be considered your average bass fisherman, but I'm ate up with it just like Ike. Ike just shows young people that you can have any background in the world and still succeed if you work hard and put your mind to it.

Some people don't like his antics. To each his own, but at the end of the day it's how someone treats other people that reflect who they are as a person. Ike goes out of his way with his fans and spectators especially youth. That speaks volumes about his true character no matter if he screams and hollers or spits on camera.
