There is a sign on the road to the water that reads, launch area only. So yes, you can drive down there to unload and load, but you have to park up on the hill.

I had a great day on the water today. The best part was fishing with four pound test line and never once did I lose a bait. The bite was okay, but the fish were all small compared to what Im use to catching around Somerville Lake. It was a blast though, because you can see the fish in the water while you fight them back to the shore line.

I would like to thank y'all for the Reimer's reports. It let me know I made the "wrong" decision on Wednesday; went to Shaffer. I guess mostly because I haven't heard anything, at least we've had a trickle of info on Reimer's. We'll curiosity did kill the cat. Put in at the Narrow's and paddled/trolled past Reimer's and couldn't buy a bite. All arty today: Roadrunners, cranks, jigs, spoons, nada. That's ok, figured it to be all recon, and it was a beautiful day to be on the water. There were a handful of bank fisherman at Shaffer's, but didn't see bent pole one. Although things could change, (IMHO) I don't foresee Shaffer being the hot spot it has been in recent "low water" years. Looks like fish caught there will be passersby on the way upstream. If you have only been to Shaffer during those low times, you almost wouldnt recognize it. The peninsula downstream was gone and most of the "landmarks" are underwater. For you PBers, even though that peninsula is underwater, some of it wasn't by much; Be careful. Still think it's a little early for them to be that far up, but it's the nature of the beast if you want to be on em first. Oh well, I think spring WB cabin fever is going to be one of my incurable diseases. Reimers on deck.

Got out there around 9 this morning. It was overcast and cool, but hardly any wind. Caught one on about 6 of my first 10 casts. Ended up with 17 keepers by 11:45 when the fishing went flat...threw back maybe 5. My stringer was about half females....packed with eggs. Went with a couple of buddies and we had about 50 keepers between us. Lot of good looking stringers leaving the same time as us. Tons of people making it there early afternoon, interested to hear how they did.

Well we had another good day at Reimers today. It was better because I had my family, some friends and their family too.
The fish were even bigger today than they were yesterday. I did se several bass boats up there, so I may take my boat next time. This way I can fish which every bank or place I chose too. A lot of the nice fishing areas can not be reached from the bank nor from fishing with waders. In a boat, yak, or canoe, you can really get in to those areas were all the main action is taken place.
I ended up with some were around 16, my wife caught 4, my daughter caught 2, and I'm not sure how many a threw back in, even the keeper fish. Our little toy puddle even had a great time. She started out white when we got there, but ended up a little on the dirty side after she made several attempts to get after the fish on the stringer. I finally had to move the stringer of fish into a deeper hole to keep her out of the water. But she had a great time running around on the rocks and boulders.
Our daughter had a basketball game at 9 am this morning, which we won, so we got off to a very late start. Was on the water around 1:00 pm and off by 4 pm. There were a lot of folks down there today and I look for the population to increase every week till this run is over. With this heavy overcast today, the fish were feeding in shallower waters, but we still managed to get a few in the deeper water were had I fish yesterday.
Over all, I would give this trip a big thumbs up. It was a good time for sure.
Baits used, 1/32 oz. white crappie jig, white road runners, and a red head, with chartreuse grub road runner. The white baits seem to have produced better than anything else.
Hope to run into several of you out there soon. Until then, tight lines.
Doug

We'll be headed out there tomorrow-where exactly are those rapids located in relation to the beach at the bend in the river? We usually park at the top of the hill and walk down to that beach, but I can't tell from the pics up there which direction those rapids are. We were out there this last Monday but had no luck. Any help is much appreciated.
