I was once thrown out of my boat due to being off balance right at the time my t-motor hit a stump. As I am falling in, my head misses another stump by mere inches. Not really an injury, but could have been one.

In 2007, I was fishing a Media individual tourney and it was windy as heck. I was fishing barefoot and lost my balance while trying to land a fish and stepped on the upward pointed edge of my measuring stick. I gashed the heck out of the bottom of my foot, and had to limp around the rest of the tourney. Heck I had to limp around for days, that thing was deep.

And then I got tennis elbow really bad in 2007. It got to the point that I could hardly lift a coffee cup, but danged if I stopped fishing. The last straw was when I hooked up with an 8 pounder on a frog while using a pistol grip rod. If it wasn't for the fact that there were people around, I would have cried, it hurt soooooo bad. But hey, I landed the fish woot

Fishing in December, water temp. mid 40s,air temp.mid 30s. I had multiple layers of clothes on. Suddenly we saw some activity on the point up ahead. My brother was on the trolling motor , but this was not fast enough for me. I decided it would be smart to start the boat and use my foot to push to throttle from a standing position. Of course I had no life jacket on, and my foot slipped, I gunned it, and fell out the back of the boat wacking my head and knocking myself out. The next thing i recall was my brother pulling me back on to the boat. He said I had sank under the water, so he had to get wet up to his shoulders to reach me. Probabally the dumbest thing that I have ever done and it is kind of embarassing telling it now. I would have died had it not been for my brother. I probabally had a minor concussion but my pride was definatly damaged, and the fishing day was over. The moral is dont be a dumbace and get in a hurry. He still likes to talk about it and remind me every time he gets the chance, but looking back it is kind of funny. I was lucky he has there or i would have been a goner.

The thing about falling overboard in areas where the stumps and tree trunks are plentiful is that they have hooks and lures that have been snagged and broken off stuck all over them. If you get hooked solidly you're in deep doodoo.

well i have had several light injuries, the typical fall out boat, getting hooked, cuts or whatever...

but last may i went fishing in lake Conroe for catfish for 4 days, me and 3 other people. we ended up catching 150 cats and afterwords we cleaned them, and cleaned the, and cleaned them...

as soon as we got done cleaning the fish we were bagging up the fillets and cleaning up the area, i was cleaning up the table and putting stuff up when i stepped on the chord of the electric fillet knife which caused it to pop straight up off the table, and as soon as it popped up i was bring my hand down to pick something and i got stuck in the side of my hand about 1/2 inch deep with the fillet knife, the still dirty/bloody/slimy fillet knife. i bled a lot, but i just bandaged it up and went on about my day like nothing happened... well the next day i was sick not feeling good and my hand was swollen up real big so i went to the emergency room, where i found out i was being severely poisoned by the dead fish meat and blood and stuff that got jammed into my hand.

the worse it got was about swollen to about 3 times it size, couldn't move any fingers and my hand was blood red, and i had a nice red streak running up from my hand to my chest. i ended up having to stay in the hospital for 3 days from it...and was on IV antibiotics the entire time. that was the worst fishing injury i have experienced. but still doesn't keep me from fishing one bit, i love it and i can't think of any injury that would cause me to give it up.

Twin Cove on Grapevine, early 80's. I knew of an unlocked gate that got me to the backside across the coves from the park road. Hooked into a good fish, rod bent over serious, fish exploded and the lure came loose and right at me. I ducked away but the rattle trap, very similar to CoorsLight's hit me right behind the ear. Couldn't see it and it hurt like heck. Got in my jeep, drove around to where all the other anglers were fishing from the bank by the park road and had to ask one of those guys to work it out. If you're reading this, I still appreciate it very much.

Medina, two years ago, went out early to fish before wife was going to join me for the afternoon. Sun just lighting the sky, first cast up under the porches on Tiki Island, hooked into a nice 2+. Get 'er boated and just as I'm sliding my hand down the line to get hold of the bill of the baby 1- the fish went crazy sinking one of the treble barbs into my middle finger where the tip of the hook was making a bump on the other side just behind the nail. Immediately grabbed the fish to keep it from causing further injury. Got the fish off, tried to remove the hook but it just hurt too much to even try to cut the hook off the bait. So, I load the boat up, semi one handed, and drive home, park the truck and boat in the backyard and walk into the house. Just past sun up now and wife is enjoying her morning coffee. She says, "hey, thought I was gonna meet you out there". I held my hand up with the lure danglin' and she just says, "mind if I finish my coffee first?". gotta love her.

Ordeal at the emergency room is a whole other story but I finally convinced them to find a pair of dikes from a maintenance guy.

When it's all said and done, chances are, more will be said than done.

Hurt myself before I ever got to the lake once. Trailer jack lock disengaged while i was moving it to hook up to the truck and the tongue dropped smack dab on my left foot. Thankfully i was wearing my work boots or it probably would have taken off toes it left a nice gash in the leather of my boot. to this day I am still not sure if the trailer bounced off of my foot or if I lifted the boat and tossed it to the side as soon as it happened. but I ended up having to have surgery on my left shoulder over it. Torn rotator cuff, as well as having 5 mm of bone ground off my clavicle because it was rubbing bone on bone in there.

Love those old Monticello stories, fishing at night, fishing in the fog, running up to the Country corner to get some coffee and warm up, then back out to catch some more. I had a orange Big-O stuck in my ear by my buddy who was more upset that he got a backlash then the hurt he put on me. The cartilage is one of hardest things to remove a hook from so I ended up going to a local doctor in-town to get it out. The other times I was hooked by my brother and friends we did the cut-n-push-through method.
