It started out really HOT -- 100 degrees at launch time. But my crew, Weekend Warrior, Aledoxxx (?) and mwd with Plowboyturtle just about 5 minutes late were ready to go.

We stayed up by the dam and used slabs, tailhummers, rattle traps and hellpets and never really figured out a pattern. We caught all sizes of fish from 20-40' of water at all different depths.

They started schooling on top about 8:00 but the ones we caught were small, fun...but not what we needed.

It is always great to hang around afterwards and talk some and find out where everyone was and what they were doing.

What were the results of the tourney?

I live in Benbrook and fish the lake often, mainly for largemouth, but love the schooling sand bass too. I've just never spent any real time searching out the sandbass and hybrids deeper. But am considering trying that much more often. Just curious what it takes to be competitive in the tournament. Thanks.

Fun as always... All boats weighed fish and we all caught fish with different methods. Most boats caught legal Hybrids as well. I had a large one break off at the boat (only down side to having double rigs on one line) Next tourney will start at 6:30 and run until 9:00 to allow more people to get in on the action.

Here's team Fuzzy (winner with a total weight of 5lbs 10oz) with 2 of their Magnums laugh

And here is the whole crew (besides my mug) at weigh in

Really, if you want to meet some good folks and have some friendly competetion, come out to the next SB tourney at Benbrook Marina 2nd Wednesday in July. It's a good way to learn the lake and talk fishing afterwards. cheers
