I would like to catch a big striper so when would be the best time of year to go? What lake would you fish? Who would you hire for a guide? Many thanks for all your help Mike Cooley

The question you have to ask is.....What is a big Striper?
In Texas I consider anything over 15 as big and anything over 20 huge! Joe is right about Feb-April. I would also put in May and the first two weeks in June.
If you want to catch a really big striper then your going to have to go to other states like Arkansas.
You need to talk to the guide you chose and be sure that he knows you want to target big fish. There is a alot of differnce in the way you fish for stripers and the way you fish for BIG Stripers. Big fish are caught on small lures and small shad but...There are ways that you can target bigger fish.
I love to tell you to come on down to PK and we will catch you a bigun but we just don't have those fish yet. Give Joe a try or maybe some of the guides at Whitney like Mike Acosta, Randy Ruth, or Clay Yadon. Just be sure that you tell them you want to catch a big fish.

Look up Shane Davies (YaknYota) if you want to catch big striper out of a kayak.

There are lots of good guides on here. I can tell you Joe Reed will put you on fish!. That BIG fish your looking for might be out of state! If your looking to mount it remember they charge by the inch and its not cheep. The last one mounted was only 17lb and it was about $400.
