Crappie fisher is a good guy--one of the few with a pontoon boat with a "working" trolling motor. Saturday finally found some sandbass schooling later in the day right before the storm and 2 older guys in a yellow and white boat were trolling with the outboard using rattletraps. Why in the ($%*&$(* would you want to troll when the fish are on top?? I know the bigger ones are down below that but just drop a slab. Its not like you're trying to locate the fish--they are showing you right where they are!! Needless to say that school didnt stay up long. Nice boat though--I guess even idiots can get a boat loan.

Grove Rat,
Superangler (and all round good guy)Don the Angler was mentoring me again yesterday, I'll let him do the fishing report cause he has the pictures. smile I will say this, every time DTA and I get together it cuts six months off my learning curve.
I had remembered someone here saying they had a creme and blue Chaser, but couldn't remember who....you know, a face and name deal. You looked like you had a "thang" goin on with the fish, so I didn't slide by. Will do next time.
Yep, the Lund is stable at and it spits those nasty rollers away from the boat. Verrry dry ride.
I love that boat so far.

He leadeth me beside still waters.

I was forced to motor through a surfacing school yesterday. Don't think anybody saw me...it was after the boat show had pretty much disbursed. I had to do it...trolling motor was inoperative due to propeller spinning itself off into the lake (dontcha hate it when that happens!!) so I had to get upwind of 'em, but the school extended about as far as the eye could see to my east...and also to my west! Had to just push right through! Didn't seem to affect 'em though.

Well you didn't HAVE to. I've been out there with a dead trolling motor battery and instead of rolling through messing up eveyones fishing, yes it does effect the fishing, I motor OUTSIDE the school up current from it and drift through. I just feel that others should suffer-even if just slightly-because I was unprepared. I'm not telling anyone anything they dont know, just what they don't want to do

Nice meeting you Grove Rat.
You would think those pleasure boaters would avoid the birds just to stay out of the droppings. I hope they get a boat load of it.
Have a good one.

don't worry jason no other boats nearby, I wouldn't mess up anybody else's fishing...but seriously there were jumping fish from one horizon to the other...you have my word as the world's only honest fisherman!

hey krappy, as many gulls as I've fished under, I'd a thought I'd been krapped on at least once or at least noticed the droppings dropping from the sky...I believe those birds do there business sitting down!

JTexas,
Honest fisherman? Isn't that an oxymoron? haha just kidding. Sorry if I sounded like a jerk about that it just seems as though Lewisville is the worst lake for inconsiderate fishermen. Still a great lake for hybrids/sandbass and at an under an hours driving time I guess I shouldn't complain too much. Saw your picture of you missing prop--that sucks! I thought the threads on the nut were opposite of the way the prop turns to keep that from happening?

let's see...prop spins clockwise looking at it from the front, but looking at the prop side it turns ccw. When the motor is pulling the boat, it's not pressing against the propnut, but when the boat is pushing the motor...

Its funny how people say that the outboards dont affect the fish. Those of you that dont believe they do, need to put the water muffs on the outboard and crank her up with some unknowing kids around. I bet it scares the H#LL out of them. Outboards are loud! I understand where you are coming from Jtexas and i know at times it looks like it doesnt affect them because there are so many fish on the surface but if you pay close attention to the movement of the fish long enough, you will see that they tend to move away from all the boats or motors. If no one is around and you feel like you need to run through them, more power to ya. If you ever see a 16ft alumacraft with mariner outboard out on lewisville with a bonehead in it fishing surfacing schools, make sure you go flying right by him and pull a few circles around him. Jason loves the sound of an outboard and will be thanful for your kindness. lol Lewisville is an awesome lake.
