Oneeighty, Stick with the worms. No one over the age of 14 should be fishing with "power bait"... Great for kids, but an embarassment for adults! You can get a cheap fly rod at most tackle shops. Google it up, and you will find a five weight will be great for all kinds of Texas fish. But for Gods sake, dont listen to these people about corn and marshmallows!!! (Unless you are under 14)

4 of us caught our limit in about 45 minutes today on gold super dupers. All fish were 12" to 14".

Having grown up in Colorado where I've caught lots of wild trout, I'm rather disappointed with these hatchery trout. Their fins are chewed off, and they don't taste the same; a bit 'muddy'.
Still fun to catch, though! The three I caught were about 10" and fought pretty well on my ultralight gear.
That's a very nice 15 incher there!
Then let them go!?

If you can make it to the Guadalupe trophy area the trout are much bigger. I have two trips there over the last two weeks and we first stop at hucho springs to catch dinner the basic 8-10" trout then head up river for the big boys/girls. Last weekend caught 9 in the trophy area the smallest 12" the biggest several in the 18-19" range on mepps size 2 firetiger. Then went again on Saturday a tad slower managed 3 one smaller 15" and two 17-18". All on the same lure. Please note special regulations are in effect from the second bridge crossing on River Road upstream to the easternmost bridge crossing on FM Road 306. In this area, there is an 18-inch minimum size limit, a one trout daily bag, and the restriction that only trout caught on artificial lures may be harvested. Anglers may fish with all other legal means and methods, and may harvest all fish except trout. Let em go!!

(Unless you are under 14) I must be an embarrassment, because I was taught at a young age to use the the easiest method that provides the best results without spending an excess of money. If corn, powerbait, night crawlers or super dupers work I will use them, and will leave the fly rods to the so-called 'adults'...
I'm just in search of a way of not coming home smelling like the devils armpit.....

Its a Man's sport to get out there and wave the longest .... fly rod.... he can buy and say what a good sportsman he is.

This is what I have learned as a new freshwater fisherman, a successful one at that lately (speaking trout now). If it's windy at all or cloudy, I don't even bother. Those are the only days I have been skunked. Good late afternoon sun with no wind means a limit in an hour. Maybe the superdupers gotta have the light to be effective. Powerbait is garbage unless catching tiny trout is what you want to do. Size 501 superdupers hit more trout. Size 502 have gotten me bigger trout (12"+). If they don't hit silver, they hit gold. I use the holographic stuff. I read all the trout threads here as my research before I went out and bought all sorts of stuff including clear bobbers, powerbait in salmon egg peach, nibbles in chartreuse, PB trout worms in bubblegum and chartreuse, superdupers in gold, silver and white, tiny crank baits in various colors, Mepps spinner baits, rooster tails and so on. I know, a lot of stuff but I was coming off a horrible streak of luck and was willing to try everything. Hell, I had corn and cheese too. The only satisfaction I have gotten was on superdupers and tiny Mepps spinners. I favor the superduper because I can't get the tiny spinner out very far free lined. I can get a good 30 yards or so on a 502 superduper with ultralight tackle.

The only thing dumber than a fish is a fisherman.
