Ok TFF family I've been relying on this form for a long time now and I need some information on the above topic from ya'll. I want the ins and outs to the Art of Splat fishing. I know the basics as far as finding the Roost. Now I need the rest; ie type of rigs used, bait, time of day, time of year, etc, etc. Thanks TFF Family.

Don't know about splash fishing but first light as you spook them off the roost is good. On my lake Nov-Jan. are the best. Use a slip cork method and fish it about 1'-2' under the surface with hotdogs, worms or punch bait and move around alot.

Low to no wind and uncooked bacon under a cork about 30 minutes before daylight until a few hours after light is best.

Ok, but do you catch more than one on a tree or do you just keep tree hopping? Thanks for the replies so far

Keep moving quietly with trolling motor, throw under the overhanging branches and keep on the move if they aren't biting after throwing a few times under each branch

Sureshot punchbait I believe is made to mimic the "Splat" from the Cormorants. Fish either under a cork or if wind is too high fish on the bottom with carolina rig with no bobber.. I anchor up in a group of trees... get the bait as close as you possibly can.. if no bites in 15 minutes move to another tree. Be quiet when moving into your spot.

Low wind allows them to hear it much better than windy days. The round corks are great in my opinion here because they simulate the splat noise better. The bacon will save you from having to mess with punchbait (also stays on the hook better and allows you to cast it better) and works just as good. I think it is more of a reaction strike stemming from the noise of the cork instead of a bait induced bite anyways.

Use spinning gear so you can throw a lightweight rig!!!
