I say just throw them in there with the guys. A good fisherman is a good fisherman, whether male or female. If they cant make the cut, then so be it, but if they can, then let them in to go all the way. I see no problems with women fishing in regular pro tourneys. If they can make the cut, then good for them.Although bass fishing tourneys can be physically demanding, bass fishing isn't a physically competitive sport against each other, So women oght to have just as good of chance of winning as the guys. The competition is tougher, but hey, you cant get no more equality than that.

Many women do fish the pro tournaments and like the guys some are more successful than others. There are approximately 20 ladies fishing the central open at this moment. It should be a great tournament for everyone.
BASS is a business and they were not making enough money on the women or the weekend series so they made changes.
Timing plays a big part in access to some tournament trails, especially the ones your sponsors want to see you fishing. Whether or not I would have been able to get in to register before the opens filled up or not, I do not know. But because of the timing of the cancellation of the tour the waitlist for the central open was already over 100. Granted, had I finished up five more places on the WBT, I would have had a spot in the opens if that were something I had wished to do.
Ultimately, there are venues available for women to fish. Some are more receptive than others. Having a tournament trail for women provides an opportunity to some out there who might not otherwise get involved in this great sport.

I think they ought to put them in there with the guys. Women aren't at a disadvantage. The bass doesn't know if a man or woman is catching it. It isn't football. so I say lump them all together, and let the best man or woman prevail.

i definitely agree they should be allowed to fish with the men's side. i totally understand it was not profitable, but it is up to you as the pioneers of the women's trail to stand tall and make it happen with some support. just dont give up on it!

I hope that more of the women will fish the opens and try to qualify for the Elite series, I would hope that more ladies will take on the FLW gang as well. I had the camera boats for the inaugural event on Lake Lewisville. I can tell you that I was impressed with the caliper of anglers I observed and met that week. I know that there is talent among those ladies and hope they will continue in spite of ESPN's decision. I know it will be hard for them. Shootfire! in today's economic times it's hard for anyone to gain sponsorship, but even moreso for the gals. No matter what happens, you ladies gained my respect and I will always be pulling for you!

Perhaps if they had sexy people like Iconalli, Brauer, VanDam, Nixon., or Woo they could do better.

i don't think fishing should be a male or female sport (like baseball vs. softball)...just let them compete in the same tour/tournaments.
