I think you are missing the point. You guys had a hard time last year with attendance and you want to try to remedy that by offering Ice Fishing seminars??? Texas has never, ever had ice on lakes or reservoirs. Are you thinking you will get a crowd from the Northern States at this show?? I went to the show last year and it was by far the worst one I had ever been to. There was nothing there to buy except a lure here or there and motor toters, split ring pliers etc. That show thrived when you had big tackle dealers like Brannan's Bass Shop, Southwestern Parts and Tackle, Olsen's, Fun N Sun etc. People want to go to the show for deals on rods, reels, lures and fishing related stuff not Alaska Guide service, jewelry cleaner, Sham Wows and Ice Fishing. When the show starts, I will wait to see what the TFF members that go have to say about it before I decide to go. I just think you will hear crickets in your seminars....

Here is the current list of vendors for this years show. It looks like there are only 98 booths and no tackle retailers, not even Southwest is there this year and it looks like Lowrance pulled out as well. It might be a tough show. This show needs to be saved somehow!!! I like going to spend my money during cabin fever season!

Hey, I've fished in Northern Wisconsin so I know the great fishing up there. With that being said, there's a difference between fishing the boundary waters for Smallmouth in July versus sitting all day in -5 degrees fishing through a hole in the ice. We're from Texas bro, we don't like that cold weather stuff and we're not going to make a trip up to Minnesota in January to ice fish. We go up there in the summer so we can escape the heat.

But hey, I wish you luck on the ice fishing seminars. I hope you pack 'em in. Stop by and let us know how the attendance was at those seminars if you get a chance. You might surprise us.

the only thing that bothers me, is there is no need for ICE fishing in THIS market. I want a show with all or most of the MAJOR vendors, as well as our local vendors like Brannans, Crucial Tackle, Black Angel etc etc.

I have no need for ICE fishing information and If I were that big of an enthusiast Id go to a show up NORTH for info.

Ice fishing seminars.....not so much, but the trip giveaway for two at Rainy fishing for big lake trout might be the hoot. I'd bet a trip for two in June to Rainy Lake for smallies might interest the TFFers a little more than the lake trout trip, though, and would be warmer. Here's a few pics from Rainy Lake that may help stimulate some interest. I hope to see you at the show!
