I am sure Smith Mountian is up in Yankee land, and probably have to use that [censored] to catch fish up there.

We are mostly Texas Fisherman down here, and have to deal with stumps and hydrilla.

So we can break out the real bass fishing and act like Bass Fisherman, instead of fishing like we are fishing in a 800 acre bathtub

I personally throw 7'6 Baitcasters with LFT Telephone Cable, but I have a spinning set up with 10lbs LFT, for cold fronts and rough bites...Spent too many tourney days throwing big lures with cable at those above mentioned stumps and hydrilla on Texas lakes w/o a hit, so, hence the spinning when I NEED a bite

I personally dont like going to finese, but, with these lakes being pounded as they are, all day throwing Brush Hogs, FH Jigs, Cranks and Senkos dont always pay off...I personally hate seing the line jump on my spinning, cause I know there is a good chance of hearing the tell tale "pop" of my line going bye bye in the timber, hydrilla or my personal nemesis, boat docks...Sometimes, especially in our club, a 2lbs fish caught on finese means a little better finish

Not Much, I just don't care for that type of fishing.

I know it catches fish, and has it place, but it's just not by bag, if I have to throw a shakey head to catch a bass, then I go ahead and put the boat on the trailer.

KVD and Hackney have made some serious $ with spinning reels throwing stuff that can for most part only be done with spinning equipment.

Several guys mentioned some good equipment and you will be fine with it. But the important part is practicing with it until you become proficient. The best way to do that is practice with it when you are on solid fish. In other words don't wait to use on one of those can't get bit days.

good luck.
