Right now with high water, they will ball up and look like brown sponge in the lakes and puddles.
A propane torch gives them the same treatment they give us during dry times. Works great. But don't try to burn them with liquid fuel. It spreads across the water and will catch you on fire too.

Is this going to go like the snake threads? Meaning: will one of us chime in here and say, "I've kept ants all my life. You just don't understand them."?

Ants are a vital part of our ecosystem and we should keep them alive. Just Kidding. laugh They aren't even native. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they all just disappeared.

Mr Wiggles,

One more post and do you become an "Angler Extreme"?

If people focused on important issues, there would be a shortage of fishing poles.

Rockiesfan: I feel more extreme already. I am thinking I will have to prove it by lighting myself on fire while fishing this weekend laugh

For relief from ant bites Field & Stream magazine a few months ago had a tip to put Listerine mouth wash on the bite. I didn't have that brand the first bite I got after that so tried my generic brand after that. It works great, doesn't sting or itch and doesn't blister up afterwards either !

Fire ants wouldn't be so bad, but they wait until there is a hundred or so on you and bite all at once. just like when the last one gets aboard and yells charge. waste em all. laugh
