I was wondering were was the best place to find the larger catfish at fork. I know the water dunce but what depth. Are humps good or should I try drifting tree areas. I have started catfishing and am a rookie. I wanted to go to fork and try and catch a couple of crappie to eat and do a little catch and release big cats. any help would be great. Steve

Never fished for the big boys at TAWAK but seen some fella's drifting about 500yds or so off the dam. And while Channel fishing the dam I ususally throw a rod out back deep with cut shad and have almost alway caught some blues, not huge or anything but nice fish. So maybe the dam area. That d's fella could probabaly tell you a descent place if not giving up his area. Notice i used a little d lol.

Hey Steve, if you go to Tawakoni I'd pay close attention to that graph if you have a good one. Focus on drop offs, humps and creek channels. I'm sure the shallows in the timber might be heating up too so don't rule that out.

I am trying for big cats. I was thinking of trying down by the dam with some cut shad. Will the big fish go into the shallows in the trees? Steve

Don't waste your time chasing the big fish on Fork. You can drive 30 minutes to Tawakoni and have a much better chance to hook into a 20lb + fish!

You might try finding the river channel in about 33ft of water and find some bait stacked in the channel. Throw out a marker and anchor up near your marker. Throw out some lines with large cut shad

Good Luck!
