i use the pistol pete behind a bubble and it is great for stocked trout in texas and also 22 inch rainbows last summer in colorado. great fly especially the day they stock in texas

Channel cats love the Pistol Petes BTW. The props typically have the hole punched through, so I always line them up with the side of the hole where the punch came out facing toward the smaller hole side of the bead to give sort of a bearing surface with less material touching so it spins easier. Then I take about 4 or 5 wraps of lead wire on the hook shank down from the bead, put a drop of super glue on the hook shank and front of the lead then snug up the wire into the bead cavity to hold it in place so the bead never crowds the prop to keep it spinning freely.

Bass and panfish love 'em too!
